Manifesto (noun): a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer.
I was recently reading my newest copy of the Magnolia Journal (Chip & Jo’s quarterly publication that I stalk the mailbox for every few months) and was struck by a simple declaration that they end each magazine with. The Gaines’ have created a manifesto for their company that they live and breathe by. It is full of beliefs about life, love, and hard work. If you think about the empire they’ve built, their manifesto has guided each of their decisions to get to where they are today. We are so encouraged by the work that the Gaines’ and Magnolia have done in our community of Waco, TX and hope that we can inspire people to live a life of value and beauty just as they have.
A Lady & A Lumberjack may not be at the same caliber as Magnolia (yet - hah!) but we hope to build our business around a few key things that we find true and that guide our every day choices as a family. We hope that in the end, we will have a life well lived. These declarations are what we hope to guide us in our big decisions and small choices and hope that they are an encouragement for you to strive for your best as well. We believe that every day, simple choices build upon each other to define our lives. Choices to be a kind and generous neighbor, to open your home to new and old friends alike, and to work hard until the job gets done. To do it all joyfully and full of gratefulness for what we have been given. So take a look at Our Manifesto and see if it resonates with you. May we all strive to do our best each day, and when we fail - get back up and try again. In the end, the sum of striving for all these things is a life well lived.
